Girl On The Contrary- On A Diet.

Did you know that just because a pizza has fancy ingredients on it doesn’t mean it’s healthy??!!!

Because that was a nasty shock to me.

I mean, if arugula, spinach, and goat cheese can’t make a pizza healthy, well then, friends I’m sorry to say pizza just can’t be healthy. Ever.

It’s a sad day for everyone. Feel free to take the day off work, go home, and mourn your loss. Tell your boss you have my permission, just be like really cool and confident about it and it will work. Probably.

  1. Dr. Oz was on the radio yesterday, saying that for the first time EVER, he let his staff eat pizza for lunch, and something else I just read made it sound like the devil’s food. I was like, “Why everybody be hatin’ on the BEST FOOD IN THE WORLD?” I think pizza -REAL pizza, in moderation- is a lot healthier than fast food / processed crap!

I may or may not have had pizza for breakfast today. 🙂

  2. Hi girlonthecontrary!

As an Italian guy, I will never abandon Pizza!
What is unhealthy? The quantity of oil?
    The quality of ingredients?

As a scientist, once I tried a curious experiment: Pizza can be eaten every single day?
The answer is YES: I ended up eating pizza for lunch or dinner for 48 consecutive days.
Come to Italy to try its local taste!

  3. Cauliflower crust pizza

    2 cups grated cauliflower
2 cups low-fat mozzarella or other soft cheese
    2 eggs
    Italian seasoning

    Preheat to 450
    Form four personal pizza crusts
take out and add whatever toppings
    bake for another 5 min

    what are your thoughts?

      1. Seriously! It’s gourmet good I promise! I live with 4 twenty-something boys, and I fed it to them, and they loved it without being told.

  4. What do you mean, not healthy??!!? If you have veggies, cheese, bread and meat, that’s a balanced meal!!!!

Isn’t it?? *curls into fetal position* Please tell me it is….

I’ve seen a recipe for “pizza” with a cauliflower crust. I haven’t had the guts to try it, pretty sure it’s healthy but I’m also pretty sure calling it pizza is a blatant lie perpetuated by cauliflower farmers. I’m not hungry enough, yet, to buy into their cauliflower pizza lies. Putting tomato sauce on a disc shaped food doesn’t automatically make it pizza!

  7. NOOOOOOOOOOOO! That is my all-time favorite pizza. Arugula is the best on pizza! What if it’s whole wheat crust? Or very very thin flatbread?? Last night I had an arugula, ricotta cheese, mushroom and prosciutto flatbread and it was to die for.

  8. Maybe you could make your own, with all fresh, natural ingredients, including the dough, that way you can pick what grains get put in. Make your own sauce, too. As for the cheese, I’d go organic. If one must have pizza, then it’s the only way to go. It could be a fun project for you and captain thoughtful to do together. 🙂

  9. sickening isn’t it!

if you replace the word “healthy” with “healthier” you will have more choices. =) If you must have pizza, have it with arugula, spinach and a bit of goat cheese and maybe olive oil on flat bread instead of sauce and regular cheese on a greasy pan baked pie. It’s definitely healthier and tho not completely guilt free at least you can say you didn’t order pepperoni and sausage.

      1. of course you know, there is turkey sausage and turkey pepperoni which are healthier options and still taste ok but without the grease.

No. I refuse to believe it. This cannot be true. It does not compute. No. No. No. Toys are being thrown out of the pram right now!

      1. JC says:

Okay, then let’s agree to ignore that one… No point in upsetting oneself and others…
