In Your Face Steven Spielberg!

Over the weekend, I faced one of my biggest fears. Because I’m a badass like that. Although, I’m not sure how many badasses have panic blankets but let’s not suffer the details right now.

I watched Jurassic Park. All. The. Way. Through.

I’ve never been able to make it through the entire movie. I’ve seen all the bits, just not in order and not at the same time. Because that movie terrifies me. Because I’m scared of dinosaurs. Which is strange and weird and makes no sense whatsoever but if you came to this blog looking for sense then you are so lost you might never be found again. Welcome.

With the help of my posse of badassery (Captain Thoughtful, Grace from (The Spinsters), and Professor McGergor) I sat down and watched the entirety of Jurassic Park. At night time. When there was a storm coming. And I didn’t even use the panic blanket once.

At this point, there is only one thing left to say: IN YOUR FACE STEVEN SPIELBERG!

(P.S. Please don’t make another dinosaur movie. Or alien movie. I was just kidding about that “in your face thing”. Thanksloveyoubye!)

  1. OMG! I am terrified of dinosaurs too! Everyone makes fun of me (I mean logistically speaking it’s a silly fear but pshh what do these people know?), so it’s realllllly nice to see ONE other person in this world that agrees with me!

PS I’m not sure I could EVER make it all the way through that movie. In fact I have never been able to make it through 5 minutes. I congratulate you on your bravery. You deserve and award. Or at least some ice cream…

PPS, I just discovered your blog this week and I love it! Keep up the good work!

  2. I thought it was a documentary. Especially Jeff Goldblum. He is so cool. Mathematicians are cool but under-appreciated. He was perfect in the tv series Raines, but it got cancelled like all my favorites.

  3. i dont know whether it makes you a really big wuss or me a really bad mother (I wont answer that if you dont πŸ˜‰ ) but my son LOVES jurassic park (he is 4) he loves general dinosaurs too… games, books, films, toys etc. I would much rather focus my attention on playing with barbies and braiding hair than playing with dirty dinos but having a boy around has definitely toughened me up πŸ™‚

  4. Since watching the lot of them, one thing sticks with me: I have never been able to decide where in line to be when hiking through grassy areas. The leader? They get eaten. Somewhere in the middle? Eaten to make the point that raptors can take someone out right in front of you noiselessly, and you never EVER wanna be at the end of the line… Why does he have to make these movies… I can only strive to be main character material.

  5. Badass? Did you not hold Captain Thoughtful’s hand once? (And I’m not talking about romantically, even though it is valentines week). I’ve never even tried to watch this movie. I know when I’m beat.

  6. This is the part where I don’t tell you I think birds are dinosaurs and ostriches scare the crap out of me because I think they are directly descended from raptors in order to not make you any more terrified, right?

  7. I went to see Top Gun on the IMAX in 3-D this weekend. And by went, I mean I was dragged forcibly, and had a good nap. I was still awake during the previews, because it does take me a little bit to fall asleep. OMG! They have redone Jurassic Park in 3-D for the IMAX?!? Take your panic blankie because it looks frightening…

  8. Steve says:

You did good! However, now I know why they decided to release the 3D version in April…I think it’s pure telepathy one-up-man-ship for β€œin your face”.

  9. Gachnar: “I am the Dark Lord of Nightmares! The Bringer of Terror! Tremble before me! Fear me!
    Willow: He… he’s so cute!
    Gachnar: Tremble!
Xander: Who’s a little fear demon? Come on! Who’s a little fear demon?
Giles: Don’t taunt the fear demon.
Xander: Why, can he hurt me?
    Giles: No, it’s just… tacky.
