Today Is A Happy Day

Why is today a happy day? Two reasons.

1. Thanksgiving is tomorrow and it’s my favorite holiday.

I love The Muppets. I love them so much. They were an awesome part of my childhood and an even more awesome part of my adulthood because I understand the jokes a lot better. I am so thrilled that I finally get to see the movie today. So thrilled, in fact, that I can talk of nothing else and when people ask me to please be serious all I can say is “Waka waka”. ย If you get that joke, we’re probably friends.

In honor of this most auspicious day, I thought I would share some of my absolute favorite Muppet moments. Enjoy!

Queen + The Muppets? An epic win.

Classic y’all. I sing this every day while I’m getting ready for work. Puts me in an awesome mood.

Johnny Cash and The Muppets!!!!!! My brain, it explodes with happy.

I hope this filled your day with happy!!!!

The muppets are part of my childhood too, Sesame Street first and then the Muppet show I still even remember all the words to Rainbow connection….love this entry Animal is one of my faves as well

  2. Yayyyy! I can’t WAIT to see this movie!!! Happy Thanksgiving, GotC! I am thankful for people who make me laugh. Oh and you too.

Ha! You know you crack me up! Now, off to gorge. I’m starting early, with bagels and gob of cream cheese.

Where I live, we had Thanksgiving in October… So I won`t be getting any turkey, unfortunately.
But Happy Thanksgiving to you, GotC!

  4. Bohemian Freakin’ Rhapsody–epic awesomeness.

And what’s this Muppet people vs. Electric Company people? There’s room for both. Have you NOT seen Morgan Freeman’s Easy Reader in a jeans jumpsuit?

  5. Well, I’m excited for you, and jealous. I sure hope you don’t get there just to end up seeing Kermit rip their hybrid demon love child out of Miss Piggy. Wait, do frogs have teeth?

      1. Depends on the frog. But I don’t think that’s Kermit’s species–besides, he’d have long since bitten Piggy for all of those unprovoked karate chops if he had choppers of his own.

  6. I’m 25 and haven’t quite gotten into the Muppets yet. Next year isn’t looking to bright either.

However, I do love food, and holidays where I can eat lots of food! I’m totally with you on that. Happy Thanksgiving, GotC!

  7. Yes! I agree with the above poster- Muppets are the ultimate Breaking Dawn palate cleanser! Bless them. My Father went to highschool with JIm Henson and I’ve never forgiven him for not cultivating that friendship!

  8. I thought I was a bit dorky over how happy I am to see this movie (I already have tickets for tonight) but knowing there are others out there who are this excited makes me feel a little less dorky… Woka woka!

Muppet Show, Fridays 6:30 p.m. My college dorm mates would gather ’round the TV and watch with rapt attention.

Two old guys in balcony, one says to the other, “What did you think of the show?”
“Let’s ask the avocado.” (Cut to avocado wearing sunglasses.) “It was the pits.”

Doesn’t get any better than that.

  10. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday too. Just yesterday I posted a bleat about it on my blog.

Did you know that when The Muppet Show was shown in Germany, the Swedish Chef was renamed “The Danish Chef”? In Sweden, however, he was still the Swedish Chef. Bรถrk, bรถrk, bรถrk.

  11. Muppets Movie = Antidote to Breaking Dawn

I’ve been a Muppets guy (and Sesame Street in general) since way back. And I do mean WAAAAAAYYYY back. Like, when the show first came out in 1969. Sesame Street is one of my first memories of TV. Its interesting how people from my Generation tend to be either “Sesame Street” people, or “Electric Company” people.

I’ve always looked at Electric Company people with some degree of suspicion. You have to keep your eyes on those folks.

Happy Thanksgiving, GotC! Hope its a good one for you.

    1. Oh, but I am greedy, so I have to be both. Remember 3-2-1 Contact? Contact is the reason…blah, blah, blah, blah… I don’t remember the rest, but I liked that show. And Kroft and You Can’t Do That on Television…

      1. My favorite is Kermit siningg it isn’t easy being green. We didn’t watch a lot of movies when I was growing up. I won’t spend my money to watch this one either. I do have a copy of the Lion King coming my kids way. That I am looking forward too.
