I am in full-out holiday spirits right now. I am a present wrapping, cookie making, cookie eating, under the mistletoe kissing, cider drinking, holiday sweater wearing fiend right now. And these are my jams.
Feliz Navidad
I know some people get sick of this song but I can’t get enough of it! It makes me want to dance and also to learn more Spanish.
Rockin Around The Christmas Tree
I crazy love Brenda Lee. Every time I hear this song I am compelled to bake some yummy sugar cookies while drinking mulled wine.
Christmas Eve In Sarajevo
Such a rocking Christmas song! Also, did you see the lights on that house?? Wicked.
What are your holiday jams?
EARTHA’S Santa Baby, of course. #selfexplanatory
Santa Baby.
Because I really DO need the deed to a platinum mine.
Ella Fitzgerald and Nat King Cole could sing the nutrition label on a cereal box and it would be awesome! I like especially:
The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire) – Nat King Cole
What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve? – Ella Fitzgerald
Happy Christmas!
Oh Ella, such a beautiful voice. Thanks for reminding me about that song!
“In The Bleak Midwinter” by James Taylor.
“God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” by Barenaked Ladies and Sarah McLaughlin.
“I Believe In Father Christmas” by Greg Lake.
“I’ll Be Home For Christmas” by Sinatra.
Anything by George Winston.
All very good choices.
(whispering) I actually listen to Mariah Carey come christmas. ‘All I want for christmas’. It’s probably because I only hear it one our of twelve months that give me the ability to actually like the song…
Wham (stopped whispering now) is another cheesy favourite, while for some reason ‘Please come home for christmas’ by Bon Jovi was the first I thought about while reading your post.
And then there’s the Pogues… we like the Pogues…
If there is anytime to indulge our love for guilty pleasure songs, it’s the holidays.
Awesome – I feel the same way! I’m obsessed with John Denver and the Muppets – it’s my go-to album this time of year. I also really like this Christmas compilation (from a few years back) called Maybe This Christmas, with people like Barenaked Ladies and Phantom Planet.
Yes! John Denver and The Muppets!!! Such a wonderful album!
Great holiday tune picks!
I tend to be old school when it comes to Christmas favorites:
Johnny Mercer and Margaret Whiting – “Baby it’s Cold Outside”
Mitch Miller and the Gang -Sing along with Mitch Christmas album which played constantly on my Mom’s giant console record player when i was a kid at Christmas time.
Andy Williams – The Most Wonderful Time of the Year
Gene Autry – Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.
Anything by Bing Crosby even remotely having to do with Christmas.
If I miss you later in the week, I hope you have a very merry Christmas, GotC!!
Thanks Paladin! Merry Merry to you as well!! I too am a big Bing Crosby fan….his voice is like a warm blanket on a cold day.
I recently skewered “It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year” on my blog. “Scary ghost stories”?! What’s with that? Aren’t they thinking of Halloween? The only one I know of is Dickens’ “Christmas Carol,” and Marley was the only ghost who was even remotely scary.
You make a good point. I have wondered that myself.
You’re going to have to wait a couple of days, because that’s when my Christmas-carol-related blog is scheduled to post.
I promise to try and be patient.
I’m looking forward to seeing what your jams are!
Anything by Otis Redding!
I love Otis Redding so much!!! His voice is like butter….
Awesome!
Thank you!
My current jam is Black Currant. I like it on toast.
MMmmmm….black currant on toast…..
